Hello Everyone!

Welcome to the sunshine state; beautiful Queensland. My name is Christi Hoover and I am the State Coordinator for Student Services in QLD,  for Griffith University, University of Queensland and Southern Cross University. I am based in Brisbane and will make regular trips to University of Queensland, Griffith University and visit Southern Cross University for events. I have traveled around Australia before settling here in Brisbane and I've got to say, you have picked a fantastic spot to study, travel and experience life in Australia. For surf, sand and sun; an hour from Brisbane is the famous Gold Coast. Or, drive up to the Sunshine Coast for the Australia you've seen on postcards. Don't forget Bris-Vegas, your new stomping grounds, with its awesome sport culture, thriving music scene and heaps to do.

I moved to Australia in January 2006, so I know what it's like to adjust to a new lifestyle and a different culture. I'm here to help make that adjustment easier for you, so whenever you need help, please let me know. I am a Canadian and grew up on a small island in the Great Lakes. I graduated with my Bachelor of Honours in Kinesiology, with a major in sport and leisure management, so I'm enjoying living in a nation that loves its sport and the outdoors. I also have my Bachelor of Education and taught secondary Physical Education in England for one and a half years before coming here. I've done extensive traveling in Europe and love the adventure that traveling brings.

My advice is to make the most of this opportunity. You've already made the first step in stepping out of your comfort zone to come here. Don't stop there. Continue your journey with an open mind and look for opportunities to get involved, try something new and appreciate the differences you see. It can be a wild ride, so live with no regrets.
