Join the Fun!

What sets IFSA-Butler apart from other Study Abroad providers is that these events are part of your program fee - at no extra cost and they continue throughout your semester. Your Student Services Coordinator (SSC) will organize several events throughout your semester, a Welcome Event, Cultural Event and Farewell event as well as an Aussie Adventure Experience or a Country Life Weekend. Each event may be different in each city/university depending on what the individual city has to offer, our SSC's carefully plan these events to ensure the best outcome for all.

Welcome to Town

A friendly get-together of IFSA-Butler students takes place in your first few weeks in town, called a Welcome Event. Welcome Events are primarily designed to introduce you to your new home town, and examples of past events are organized bike tours, visits to wineries, ghost tours, a city bus tour, and visits to places of interest.

Cultural Events

Your SSC will organize an event of cultural significance in your host state. In previous semesters, this has included a theater performance or a sports match, either a visit to the National Rugby League (NRL) or Australian Football League (AFL). Usually some dressing up is involved: fish out your best gear for the theater or pitch up to a footy game in your team’s colors.

Aussie Adventure Experiences

All our adventure experiences take students to major destinations for visitors to Australia. You may visit one of Australia's spectacular national parks. Our adventures are set up to be flexible, so we won't push you past your comfort level- you can do as much or as little as you want! Adventure experiences may include:

  • Rock climbing and/or rappelling down cliffs with the help of experienced, professional guides
  • Bush walks with spectacular vistas
  • Snorkelling/Sailing/Swimming in paradise (Nth QLD)
  • Kayaking on the Yarra River (VIC)
  • A half-day trip for site-seeing in the local area.

As always we are constantly refining our Aussie Adventure Experiences OR

Country Life Weekend

Get a taste of life on a farm or cattle station. In groups from two to seven, you'll enjoy home-cooked meals, experience the way rural Australians live, and be introduced to Aussie life that is so different to city living. Activities at your farm may include:

  • Farm tour
  • Feeding animals and shearing demonstrations
  • BBQs with neighboring farms
  • Star gazing at the Southern Hemisphere night sky.

Farewell Event

This is the chance to catch up with the best mates that you’ve made over the semester, sharing travel stories and reminiscing about orientation, IFSA events and crazy mishaps! Relax and enjoy yourselves at this final reunion before facing your exams and the return to the States.
