IFSA-Butler holds the well-being of our students to be our top priority, this includes maintaining their privacy. All information submitted to IFSA-Butler is used solely for the purpose of administering our program and is not released to other companies or people outside of IFSA-Butler. At the time of application, students may request that we not send written information to their parents.
As outlined in the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Institute for Study Abroad, Butler University (IFSA-Butler) has the right to release, for reasons deemed legitimate, the following directory information about any IFSA-Butler student unless that student has requested in writing that their directory information be withheld from release. The following information is designated as directory information by IFSA-Butler:
- Name; home, school and overseas addresses; e-mail address; telephone number; date of birth; hometown; citizenship; gender; previous schools attended; academic year; major field of study; dates of attendance; overseas university attended; special awards received and scholarships awarded.
- Students who wish to have any or all of the above categories withheld from release must put their requests in writing by stating which categories they do not want released as directory information. The request must also contain the student's signature. Please address all requests to:
