Message from Kate Hamilton, Director Programmes IFSA-Butler Australia
On behalf of IFSA-Butler Australia I would like to extend the sincerest thanks and appreciation to the individuals and organisations for their generous donations to Bicycles for Democracy. Each contribution is equal to one bike for one female Councillor in Cambodia and this will make a huge difference to her life and ability to meet the needs for her electorate. UNIFEM deserves a very special thank you for their continuing support for Bicycles for Democracy by accepting and sending on your donations to Nanda Pok, Executive Director and capital for Women for Prosperity. Thank You. We are dedicated to meeting our target of 54 bikes for the Women's Network of Local Councillors and thus far we have 35 and so we have to raise funds for another 19. Your contribution is helping to spread democracy one bike at a time. Each bike costs $AUD100. Some local councils were able to give two bicycles.
We would also like to take this opportunity to give a very warm thanks to Cr Denise Wilton for her articles about the campaign in the November/December and January newsletters for the the Australian Local Government and Womens Association (ALGWA), thank you Denise.
In this Year of Women in Local Government we want to support all women representing their communities.
