Launceston: At the head of the picturesque Tamar River, Launceston is one of Australia's oldest cities with many historical buildings and sights. Access to outdoor recreation, with beaches, rivers and wilderness are all within easy driving distance. Launceston is Australia’s third oldest city and has many historic buildings and sights including Queen Victoria Museum which has a large collection of colonial art. Within walking distance from downtown Launceston is Cataract Gorge, a wilderness marvel with a river, hiking trails, suspension bridges, and chair lift. Launceston is the jumping off point to visit nearby caves with reflection pools and glow worms, as well as national parks including Cradle Mountain.

Hobart City: Hobart:  As the state capital of Tasmania, Hobart has much to offer including a picturesque harbor, lively waterfront, beautiful beaches, nearby rivers and wilderness all within easy driving distance. Today Hobart has a population of over 209, 287 . With origins as a British penal colony, Hobart retains a unique ambiance through its architecture and culture. The weekly Salamanca markets offer locals and tourists the opportunity to purchase local handmade goods, artwork, clothes, and food.

Housing

Housing in Hobart is in either one of three residential colleges, or in apartments. Located near the campus at Sandy Bay and a thirty minute walk to the city, two of the residential colleges offer the option of either purchasing or preparing meals. The third residential college is a 15 minute walk from the campus in one direction and a 15 minute walk to the city in the other. It has a mandatory meal plan and offers a free shuttle service to campus and back, all included in the overall fees. Located within close proximity of the campus, students living in the apartments may purchase or prepare their own meals.
Students at Launceston live in residential colleges on campus. They have the option of purchasing or preparing their own meals.
