Thanks to its strong ties with Australia’s technology sector, Macquarie University is able to offer a wide variety of internships in technology and research, as well as several opportunities in liberal arts. Internships involve both a work placement of 10 to 20 hours per week and a related academic project.
You will present your research report formally at the end of the semester. This research project carries 40 percent of your final assessment. The rest of your grade is based on the evaluation of your workplace supervisor (40 percent) and the university internship manager’s and academic supervisor’s evaluations of your participation in the program (each 10 percent). Internships are assessed on a pass/fail basis.
Placements are available in most fields, with the exception of teaching. Opportunities include industry and service organizations, including the USA Football League and the Sydney Swans football team. You also may apply for an internship placement within the university, including the dolphin research project in the university’s department of marine biology.
